Help us raise the final £70,000 and choose Leo’s Appeal as your charity of the year for 2016!

Leo the LionIs your business, school, or community group looking for a charity partner for 2016? If so, why not consider Leo’s Appeal, and help make a difference to children at Milton Keynes University Hospital.

Leo’s Appeal, launched by our charity in September 2013, set out to raise £200,000 to enhance the experience of children and families visiting Milton Keynes Hospital – and there is just £70,000 left to go!

Thanks to the generous support of the local community, we have been able to achieve many wonderful things since the launch - including purchasing a sensory trolley for children with complex needs, a redevelopment of the play room, chair beds for parents to stay comfortably overnight, and new themed artwork for the entire ward.

Students get creative to welcome visitors onto the neonatal unit

Lola and KarenStudents at the Webber Independent School had pens and pencils at the ready earlier this year after being invited to design some new artwork for the neonatal unit at Milton Keynes University Hospital.

The Stantonbury Fields based school have been supporting our hospital’s neonatal unit over the past few years, with activities ranging from a beat the goalie competition to a Christmas raffle and Valentine’s sweets sale.

As part of this, the students were invited by our charity to design artwork to brighten up the neonatal unit entrance doors – and they were only too pleased to accept!

Each year around 390 babies are admitted onto the unit, which cares for babies born too early, too small or very ill – and so the artwork can offer a warm and friendly welcome for all its visitors.

The designs were submitted and a winner was chosen earlier this year and the doors have now been installed. The winning student, Lola de Gorter, visited the unit today to see the finished doors and was really pleased with the finished result!
