Nikki is a Deputy Manager for Stony Stratford based Adorable Nurseries and is running for Milton Keynes Marathon in May. Here she tells us what has motivated her to take on the challenge.
“Last January I decided that it was time to stop messing around and start getting back into shape. I joined a local slimming group which along with exercise I managed to lose 75lb. I decide in August that now I had lost the weight I needed to do something to keep it off, so I joined the local running club. Each time I went I got more and more hooked. Therefore I decided that in 2017 I needed a different challenge whilst still doing something I enjoyed. I signed up for the Milton Keynes half marathon (in march 17). What better way to keep me motivated than doing it for charity? I choose Leo's appeal, as I work in Adorable Nurseries and between myself and the manager, we had previously chosen Leo's appeal as the nursery charity of the year, knowing that at any point the children who we care for could be needing to stay in the hospital. As the weeks passed the target of a half marathon seemed too easy, I completed my first half marathon in December 16 and thought why not make the challenge harder. Therefore I have signed up to run the Milton Keynes marathon in May this year. Although the thought of it scares me, I will do it and hopefully raise as much money as I possibly can to support Leo's appeal.”
