Every patient at Milton Keynes Hospital will receive a present during their stay this Christmas thanks to the generosity of the local community.
As a result of the Milton Keynes Hospital Charity’s Give a Gift campaign, more than 600 presents have been collected, wrapped and delivered to wards and departments across the hospital. Staff will then hand the presents out to patients of all ages on Christmas Day.
The hospital charity’s Give a Gift campaign has seen the fundraising team working with a whole host of companies in Milton Keynes such including Amazon, Geoffrey Leaver LLP, Network Rail, VW, Sainsbury’s, Santander, Morrison’s, Mercedes, TXM Healthcare, Quality Personnel and Gala Bingo.
Present donations have also been made by MK Lightning, staff from Woodhill Prison; local community groups the Muslim Youth Association and the Lions Club of Bletchley as well as numerous individuals.
And in what is now a Christmas tradition, members of the first team from MK Dons visited the children’s ward yesterday to hand out vouchers and goody-bags to young patients.
The hospital charity is also the chosen recipient of the generosity tree at Intu shopping centre, where members of the public have donated almost 100 presents to patients young and old.
The charity was also delighted to work with volunteers from Santander and Network Rail this week, where staff got into the Christmas spirit and came into the hospital on Tuesday to wrap hundreds of presents for the big day.
Head of fundraising Vanessa Holmes said: “This really has been a bumper year for receiving Christmas presents donations and we’re so grateful. Thank you so much to everyone for supporting our campaign, which will help bring a smile to the faces of patients in hospital over the Christmas period. We’d also like to wish each and every one of our supporters a happy Christmas too!”
The Milton Keynes Hospital Charity raises funds to enhance the experience of thousands of patients at Milton Keynes Hospital. Fundraisers can support any ward or department they wish.
